Whether it’s rolled or puzzle (interlocking) flooring, you must first prepare the installation site. The installation site must be level. Therefore, first, eliminate any unevenness if the desired surface is uneven. After ensuring the floor is level, clean the surface.
Lay the mats loosely in the desired installation location to visualize their appearance, and rearrange the pattern by rotating or moving the floorings until the desired design is achieved. Start with the first row of tiles and continue until you reach the other corner. Then, move to the next row and the next, aligning the edge pieces until the last piece. If part of the area is smaller than the flooring size, measure the area with a ruler and cut the flooring to size. Then, place the flooring in its place. The most challenging part of installing rubber rolls is cutting the sheets to fit correctly without gaps. Be very careful when cutting, and always use a ruler and a utility knife with a fresh blade. Place the rubber rolls on the floor as desired. Align the roll with the wall and check at the end to see how much excess needs to be trimmed, then roll it back and cut the excess at the end of each section with a utility knife. To ensure the cut is not too much and the roll reaches the end of the wall, cut a little at a time. For the last row, measure the remaining surface and mark the roll with chalk. Cut the rolled flooring with a utility knife using a ruler and these marks, then place it in the desired location. Finally, use double-sided tape to adhere the start and end of the rolled flooring to the floor to prevent it from moving.
Rubber naturally contains wax, which slowly and continuously rises to the surface of the floor. This means you don’t have to wax rubber floors; they wax themselves! Microfiber pads on an automatic scrubber keep the rubber clean while spreading the wax. Due to this natural wax, chemical cleaners must be chosen carefully. For example, using a degreaser might break down the natural wax of the rubber. To keep rubber clean, you do not need strong chemicals.
